Soooo. I got hired by the T-tauri Film Festival to be their official photographer. I'm getting pain $300 for three days of shooting. Which I find...completely awesome. Haha. So, yesterday was my first day and I think it went pretty well. I got some good photographs and had a good time. I'm just so glad I at least got a bit of freelance work so I didn't feel like a complete bum this summer.

The guy who runs the film fest here said he might even hire me again for some other gigs. It would be pretty amazing to get work like this. I never really thought I'd be making any money off of my photography when I started, but I'm certainly not objecting to it now!

In other news...I feel like the summer is almost over...it's slipping away through my fingertips! There was so much I wanted to get done... Haha. Oh well. That's what next summer is for~

Today is my birthday! Now I'm seventeen. =D My best friends are in Guatemala right now, so I didn't really have a party. My parents bought me cupcakes, though, and they are quite delicious. I now have a week before I leave for Europe. There's a lot I want to get done though. I hope to finally get that photo shoot with Allae this week and maybe one with Cody if I'm real lucky.

So, I'll be MIA for two weeks starting the 16th, but don't worry, I'm sure I'll have tons of photos when I get back. I've always been really amazed by street photography, but I've been embarrassed to try in such a small town because everyone knows everyone... In Europe though I think I'll try my hand at it. No promises at it being any good though!

And since I've asked for tips in my last few journals, any tips on street photography? What sort of shutter speed, etc is best for a typical sunny day to capture those walker-bys? I never can seem to capture these things very well.

Thanks for reading! <3

May 16 --{{ in need of editing advice }}

Okay, so here's the deal. I usually reduce the size of my photos greatly so that they're easy to work with in photoshop, but I realize now that for printing purposes it's best to keep them as large as possible. How do you edit in large resolution? I seem to have a harder time getting the effect I want with "sharpen" , "blur",etc. They just don't seem to have the same potency. Any advice?

On a different note, next week is the last week of school. Hallelujah! This year has been the shortest (yet also the longest in terms of stress and tiredness) of all my high school years and I only have one more to go. It seems so strange to think that soon I'll be living on my own, fending for myself and not relying on my parent's income for food and the little things. But I suppose that's enough wonderings from me.

Amy and Ng (my two best friends) will be in Guatemala on a mission trip in early June, so I'll probably be doing a bit of photography then. (I'll probably bribe Cody to model for me or something--I might go crazy with the both of them gone.) And my birthday is coming up soon! Hooray. Seventeen. I somehow don't feel that I'm that old. It's an odd feeling.

And finally, thanks to everyone who has been visiting my page and giving me great comments and favs lately. I really really appreciate it! <3

Thanks to everyone who recently commented and faved my photos--it means a lot to me! I'm sorry I can't comment back on every comment, but just know that appreciate your feedback so much. Also thanks to all the people who recently added me to their friends list! I promise I'll be coming out with more exciting stuff soon.

This month is finals month though, so I won't be online that much. I took my Psych final today--made an 86%. It's alright, but I could've pulled an A if I had just studied for an hour or two more. My Intro to Med final is tomorrow. I loathe that class like nobodies business. I don't even want a career in the medical field, I just had to take it in order to take Psych.

Aside from finals, I have a pretty packed to do list. I've got a Student Ambassador meeting next weekend--in which I will endure a four hour meeting. But it will be worth it when I get to go England, France, Belgium, and The Netherlands in June for two weeks! Photography wise, I'm going to be doing some band portraits for Solstar Nation and some photos for Allae's portfolio she wants to put together. Both should be really fun and productive.

What's the best way to get ride of pre-photoshoot nerves? I want to be confident when shooting, but sometimes when I don't have an great amount of ideas, or even when I do and I don't know how to communicate them I get a bit overwhelmed.

Also, any ideas on what sort of different concepts to work with when helping someone with a portfolio? Allae's thirteen (though she appears seventeen really) and I want to think up some fun, doable ideas--but I need an abundance of them.

Thanks for reading. =]

Only three more stressful weeks of school and summer is here. That is both awesome and terrifying. I have my college class finals Monday and Tuesday and high school finals in two weeks. So...study study study. In moderation...of course.

I just watched a really amazing movie. It made me tear up quite a few times. The Ultimate Gift. Go watch it...now.

I wish I had more to say in these things.

I stained the seat of my jeans down at the river today. Yay, grass stains. People kept walking in front of my shots. It was agitating. But I got over it. =]
